This will likely be the first of many posts having to do with pizza. Whenever I have fresh mozzarella, I insist on making pizza at least once. If the standard mushrooms and peppers are involved, a pizza is definitely on the agenda. My boyfriend and I have made pizza with sauce from scratch before, but this we time took the lazy way out and used leftover pasta sauce from a jar. As expected, we were not disappointed.
Mushroom, Pepper & Mozzarella Pizza
1 handful cut mushrooms
1/2 bell pepper
Mozzarella cheese (as desired)
Pillsbury pizza crust
Oregano (and/or basil)
Salt and pepper, to taste
1. Follow baking directions on crust.
2. Cut the pepper into thin slices and sauté with the mushrooms over medium heat in olive oil. Add desired amount of salt and pepper.
3. Slice mozzarella into small squares. Take crust out of the oven (time depending on package instructions) and spread marinara sauce liberally over crust. Arrange veggies over sauce and top with mozzarella.
4. Sprinkle with oregano and bake according to instructions on crust.
