As someone who loves to discover vintage accents for my home, I fell head over heels for Katie’s new Etsy shop, Dash of Vintage Whimsy. I mention Katie and her blog over here a lot… we met at an event in DC last summer and she has since moved to Columbia, MD. Sadsies :(. Anyway, as evidenced by her blog and Instagram, she has a knack for discovering the most amazing vintage treasures that most people would simply overlook at Goodwill or a garage sale. After leaving her job in the Army, one of the things Katie did was set up this shop to sell some of her best finds.
Etsy is an amazing place but can be a doozy to get through, so if you’re a vintage fan or are shopping for someone who is, you should bookmark her store. New products are added regularly and there’s no shortage of blue + white, lucite, and gold pieces. Aren’t you now just a little motivated to go find some accents to decorate your space? #storyofmylife. It definitely seems to be a product of getting older, but every time I go home to my parents’ house I end up asking my mom for a cool knickknack or book that I didn’t think twice about growing up. Much like you go from detesting furniture shopping as a child to aggressively browsing flash sale sites like One Kings Lane, I now have a real desire to fill my space with more “adult” pieces that I’ll have in my home for years to come. A lot of those happen to be vintage, and there’s nothing like the thrill of finding the perfect accent, whether it’s from an Etsy shop, flea market, or garage sale!
