As you may already know, I took an early train up to NYC Friday morning and spent a three day weekend doing a lot of walking, eating, and socializing. It was great to see friends who I hadn’t seen in about a year and visit parts of the city I’d never been to before (FiDi + Brooklyn). As always, the trip felt way too short yet also per usual, I was ready to get back to DC with slightly lower prices, fewer crowds, and less… dirt. I do love visiting New York, but always leave know I’m living in the right place. Comforting, right?
Despite the rain, a significant portion of the weekend included walking, eating, or drinking outside. We spent Friday evening on the roof with a bottle of wine and some cheese + crackers, Saturday morning and Smorgasburg, and Saturday afternoon sipping blood orange mimosas in covered seating.
The East River Ferry was easily one of the highlights of our trip. My friends and I couldn’t get enough despite the overcast, drizzly weather. It was $6 to get from Williamsburg to the Financial District… worth every penny!
At Smorgasburg: I got a Bolivian empanada and a chocolate creme-filled salted caramel chocolate chip cookie sandwich. #happyandcontent
Another highlight? I went to SoulCycle on Friday… with Hallie!! I’ve repeatedly said that I’d “only take a class if Hallie was teaching” because a) they’re quite pricey and b) I have a bad back that without a good spinning instructor, it’s easily aggravated. Well, here we are guys… I went and actually enjoyed it! Hallie was also the most motivating and fun fitness instructor, plus as down to earth in real life as she is on her blog. She’s moving to Chicago later this week and helping open up a new SoulCycle studio there… so Chi Town friends, go!!
Post-Soul, I met up with Joanna at MarieBelle, the cutest little chocolate shop + cafe in SoHo. You may remember her work from these posts …she was so sweet and we talked a lot about her career path, small businesses, and of course, her art. Something cool will be coming up on here in the nearish future, so stay tuned! Check out MarieBelle below– insane!
Overall, a perfect weekend in the city filled with things I love. New + old friends, food, and adventures :) A tired start to the week was entirely worth it and the next trip back is already in the works! New York, you are always such a treat.
