Two weeks with double outfit posting…that’s what happens when life has been a little crazier than usual and the original photography popping up here has more to do with my daily life rather than planned out photoshoots with new recipes, etc.! I’m excited to share some scenes from my trip to Dallas this past weekend…Katie and I hit up a bunch of my favorites (check out Instagram for some of the highlights), one of which was the Dallas Arboretum. Note that it was 90 degrees–yes, in October–meaning that whatever I had on wasn’t going to be seasonally appropriate for the majority of the country.
I will say, though, that this outfit–with tights, a cardigan, and booties–is going to be worn on repeat in the coming months. It’s simple, pulled together, and most importantly, is really comfy! It really is the perfect thing to wear to work this time of year.
IN THIS POST:
J.Crew Top // J.Crew Factory Skirt // Sweet & Spark Necklace (lots of pendants here) // Tory Burch Robinson Satchel (this year’s version; see mine on eBay) // Yosi Samra Flats (similar) // Skagen Watch
We started off with a little picnic and people watching with my mom. Included was one of my all-time favorite cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes. As you can imagine based on the name of this blog, I don’t take calling a cake a “favorite” lightly. This stuff is amazing…the moistest cake that is the perfect amount of sweet, with the most insane light cream cheese frosting. They’re opening a location in the DC suburbs soon, and I’m seriously hoping they start shipping their products soon!
Made a new friend! Couldn’t bring him home.
The only slightly disappointing part of our visit was that there just weren’t as many blooms as I remember there being. I’m sure this had something to do with the time of year, but I recall my middle and high school trips to the gardens looking a little differently. It was still beautiful, though, and we made the best of it despite the temperature and crowds…this place is popular!
But really, have you seen an odder pumpkin?
If you’re in the market for casual, comfy flats, I can’t recommend Yosi Samra enough. They took zero breaking in and some of the pairs–including mine–are actually foldable to make transporting extra easy. The price is also right: most pairs retail for ~$70.
(Please ignore the weird skin thing that’s going on on my foot…that’s from sitting on the grass for too long…)
