Guys, there are leaves on the ground in this post!! And it was windy when Rosa and I snapped these pictures! Eeeee!!
(Let’s not talk about how the high today in DC is going to be over 90 degrees).
Anyhoo, maybe you’re like me and already have a decent amount of travel plans lined up between now and the holidays, so I figured it was an appropriate time to share a simple but pulled together casual outfit that also works really well for traveling.
While I frequently opt for leggings over jeans on plane rides and longer car trips, there are times when a) you won’t be in transit for that long so denim isn’t uncomfortable and b) you need to look a little “nicer”– perhaps you’re headed somewhere straight from the airport with no time to change, or are packing super light.
You guys have heard talk about my obsession with Saint James on Instagram and around here, so it probably comes as no surprise that this heavier cotton shirt is one that frequently gets packed for travel or when I know there’s a chance the air conditioning will be running on high. I also picked this particular top up in France last year, where Saint James retails for 1/2 of what it does in the US! My only regret is not buying more…I will say, though, their products will last for years and are worth every penny (the quality is unbeatable), so they are entirely worth the splurge. They’re excluded from J.Crew’s discount codes but not Tuckernuck’s, so keep an eye out there if you’re waiting for a sale!
Anyone else swear by packing a hat for travel days? By the time Sunday rolls around, camp “I wasn’t going to do my hair just to travel home” is a real thing. I’ve found this to be especially true when I’m taking the train back from NYC to DC after a weekend in the city…I’m sure many of you can agree!
Jeans // This is my first time trying Frame denim and can confirm: the hype is real! They’re so comfortable, and it’s been a struggle to find non-embellished, lighter wash jeans I like. This pair totally fits the bill, AND is 40% off right now! A note to size down (I’m usually a 26 but am wearing a 25 here), as they do stretch a bit.
Tote // I won’t even go into my L.L. Bean Tote obsession again because it’s old news, but I did recently add this larger zip one to my collection and it’s the perfect large personal item for airplanes + a great overnighter for short trips. These bags last years and are really budget-friendly…I’d highly recommend for yourself or a friend if you’re looking to give a thoughtful gift!
