Those of you who have been reading this blog since last winter know that I love cold weather–fall and winter are my favorite–compared to summer. The crisp cold air, sweaters, holiday festivities, and not breaking a sweat when you walk outside…just to name a few. Despite the temptation to fill up the calendar with plans, I’m trying to make it a point to slow down and actually enjoy this time of year. Hopefully you are, too! Here are a few things that have been going on on my end as of late…
Weekend in CT
Per the photos in this post, I flew up to Hartford on Friday morning till yesterday morning to visit a couple friends in the area. J is originally from around that part of New England so I’d been once before, but my friend Alex (from this post!) who used to live in DC moved up to the West Hartford area in the spring so I went to visit her. The internet is a funny thing–she actually dates Meg’s brother-in-law, and I originally met Meg through Instagram. We caught up, ate good food and drank wine (Bricco is amazing, if you find yourself in the area), went antiquing, hung out with Meg (whose pup + house are both even better in person…you have to follow her on Instagram) and spent a couple of hours in Litchfield. Really, even just hanging out + driving around made me happy…there really is nothing like New England in the fall.
New TV console
In home decor related news, our new console finally arrived a few weeks ago! We’d ordered it through One of a Find Charleston back in July. The piece was in good shape but could definitely use some paint, so we had it lacquered white with gold hardware. A few things held up delivery but it’s here now and fits perfectly. We’re still figuring things out organizationally so photos to come! It feels really nice to knock a few things off our list…we hung coat hooks by the front door yesterday and even that felt like progress!
L.L. Bean sale
I posted this Instagram yesterday and mentioned it in Friday’s post, but L.L. Bean has 25% off sitewide through tomorrow. This fuzzy vest (I’m wearing an XS) and scarf are two new additions to my closet and both pieces that will see wear multiple times per week throughout the season. I’m pretty sure this is the best sale I’ve ever seen from them since it also includes Bean Boots. Basically, start thinking about holiday shopping and take advantage! My go-to gift recommendation would be a sweater fleece, which is also available in men’s. Size up!
BTS blog work
Since completely rebranding the blog a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been trying to clean up some of the backend of my site. Truthfully, I didn’t know much about the technical side of my own website until recently and relied on a developer to make little updates as needed. Now, I’m investing some time into learning to make these changes myself and it feels amazing! There is still a lot to be done (namely cleaning up some old posts and categories) but on the visible end, I added a “holiday” tab that’ll house all the relevant content over the next few weeks. If you notice anything funky or have any recommendations, I’m all ears :)
We’re heading down to Florida for Thanksgiving next week and it’s going to feel so strange to pull out shorts and dresses for a couple of days! It should be a fun and relaxing trip and we’re planning on getting a real tree (my first non-fake one!) right after we get back to savor the crazy few weeks before Christmas. We also have zero ornaments so fingers crossed for a good 50% off Michaels sale when we’re in the ‘burbs next week!
How are things with you? I’d love to hear what’s happening on your end!
