Navy Navy Navy Outfit

TGIF! Depending on when you’re reading this, we’ll be on our way to California! This trip has been a long time in the making–I have a lot of family in the Bay Area, and haven’t visited since probably mid-high school–and while it’ll be a really short trip, it’s sure to be a fun, activity-packed one. I’ll share a recap next week because we’ll be hitting up a lot of locally recommended food + drink spots, i.e. my favorite way to explore a city!

This has been a weird week…I think it’s the combination of sad news that’s made headlines, feeling a little in over my head with the to-do list, and the indecisive weather (which is practically a guarantee that I feel less than 100% physically). It also feels ridiculous complain about being “off” because when all is said and done, I’ve had it pretty easy at a time when many have not. Hearing the stories of others really puts things into perspective and reminds me to stop complaining and just suck it up when the going gets a little tough…you know?

Still, on a light note, part of what contributed to my struggles this week was getting a little overly ambitious with my OTF workouts; I typically don’t do back-to-back classes but I did this week, plus physically pushed myself more than I should have given that I hadn’t been stretching enough between workouts. Thanks to a bad back and consistently tight muscles, I know how important it is to stretch and foam roll for more than 10 minutes after exercising, but tend to de-prioritize that when life gets busy. The plan is to try out a yoga studio in the next couple of weeks in hopes that it helps me schedule time to address the areas where I’ve been lacking. Fingers crossed!

THE PERFECT MONOCHROMATIC NAVY OUTFIT

Onto the happy stuff–this navy outfit! I love going the monochromatic route (and have been doing so even more recently) since it makes getting dressed much easier and sort of creates an instantly pulled together look. I picked up this top in NYC a few weeks ago and have been wearing it once or twice a week since. It’s also in my suitcase this weekend :) Unfortunately it’s sold out as are my exact pants + shoes, but I’ve linked a couple similar ones below. I’ve seriously pared down on shopping in the past six months and while it’s meant feeling freer and more “light” in terms of my closet and the belongings I own (and whoever said it makes getting dressed much easier was onto something…I pretty much never hesitate anymore!), it’s challenged me to get creative with outfit shoots in a new way. The good news for you is that pretty much everything you see on here will be pieces I reach for over and over again, and hopefully that inspires you to invest in only what you really love and do the same!
