This is probably the longest I’ve gone without doing an outfit post, but I’m baaaaack! The hiatus accidentally happened due to a combination of a lack of shopping, the transitional season, and taking a bunch of short weekend trips where shooting outfits wasn’t really practical or possible (I’d have loved to squeeze one in in Amsterdam, but we were there for such a short time and everything I wore was old and has already been on the blog at some point)–but thanks to being back on a regular schedule, doing a little shopping, and actually being able to dress for the season, you can expect to see a typical smattering of outfits around here! Yay!
How were your weekends? I spent both nights in (and revamped my DC restaurant recs page, if you’re interested), had brunch with Katie at Tulips and caught up with a friend on Saturday, and went to Orangetheory on Sunday before cooking a big brunch and meal prepping for the week. If you are in need of some lunch and/or dinner inspo, I’ve been posting my “easy eats”–basically really simple recipes/combinations–on Instagram “highlights.”
Katie snapped these pictures after brunch on Saturday, aka the perfect spring day/#nationalstripesday/. You know by now that I wear basic striped tees multiple times a week, but this Duffield Lane top kind of takes things to the next level with the peplum hem and subtle buttoned back. I have a few DL pieces and the quality is great…while the price tag is on the higher side, I’d rather pay more upfront for a classic piece that washes and wears well, as nothing is so cringeworthy during the summer months than sweating through a dry clean only shirt once and essentially paying $10 per wear.
This top is from DL’s resort collection, but their spring pieces are also available now…pretty much every top pairs perfectly with white jeans (a seasonal non-negotiable in my mind) and if you’re looking for a graduation or casual wedding guest dress (swoon!), they have a bunch under $130. It’s kind of nuts that May and everything that comes with it–always a full calendar, right?–is seemingly just around the corner, especially with the snow in New England this morning! This weekend marked one year of moving into our place and living together–which we naturally commemorated with Chinese food, a bottle of cider I picked up from Beak & Skiff earlier in the year, and cooking on Sunday–and more to come in a few weeks, but May is shaping up to be a very exciting month. That’s all I’ll say for now and am not going to tease it further but stay tuned :)
