Is it just me, or is this the point in the summer where it feels like the next two months are going to fly by in the blink of an eye? This is something I experience like clockwork around this time every year (and a lot of times in the late fall, right before the holidays, too) but it’s this feeling that sets in when I look at my calendar and can basically see plans heavily scattered throughout the next two months. We’re in town this weekend, heading back to Dallas for one of my childhood friends’ weddings the following, a bff is visiting me the weekend after, and then it’s the Fourth…and then 10 days later I’m going to Boston, followed by our quick Bermuda trip. And that gets us to the last weekend in July! I’m not one to wish time away so am going to try really hard to be present and enjoy the summer, miserably hot as it may be. We were also looking back at “old” photos of Millie and it’s crazy how much she’s grown in just a month. I can only imagine how parents of actual children must feel when they see a little one grow up seemingly overnight! Those are just some of my summer thoughts.
On the clothing front, those of you who have been reading for awhile know how biased I am towards pieces that are machine washable vs. dry clean only, particularly in the summer when walking more than half a mile generally means sweating through anything on your body. I really like this Everlane top because it looks and fits like something that’s both more expensive than it really is (it’s only $68), and is also a textured material that’s typically dry clean only–or at least hand wash. It’s truly the epitome of “desk to drinks” and it’s definitely something you’d wear just as much during the week as you would on the weekend, not to mention year-round. I’m wearing a size 4 and could have probably gone with a 2, but wanted the flowier fit to contrast a pair of fitted pants.
A quick note about these jeans…I’ve mentioned my love for American Eagle’s white denim before (thanks to Ashlee, who was spot on with her recommendation!) and picked up another pair a couple of weeks ago. They’re slightly different than last year’s style–the front pockets don’t exist, which is weirdly annoying–but I surprisingly sized down and went with a 0 since they’re quite stretchy. It’s probably worth getting two sizes and returning one!
