Friday Things

Most people who know me know I’m not a very impulsive person, but when a bunch of girls hit up the text chain around 5pm last night about getting together to watch the Caps in the Stanley Cup, I decided it was a good idea to skip my yoga class and forego a night of multitasking to fully embrace the playoff spirit…and boy am I glad I did! The Caps won the Stanley Cup–a huge thing for DC sports, which aren’t known for bringing home trophies. The atmosphere was incredible and I think most of us are still in shock!

This week was pretty low key…I helped host the DC version of Jen’s book club (we read The Names They Used for God, which I really enjoyed) and I caught up on sleep after spending last weekend at our college reunion. Tonight is going to be an early night thanks to yesterday’s big game–it’s Pride this weekend, I’m celebrating one of my bffs birthdays, and going to a couple workout classes. I’m also hoping to shoot a few photos of Millie…she’s growing up so fast, but sitting still (in any capacity) doesn’t seem to be on the table. Whatever you’re up to, have a great one!

Some goodies from around the internet, below…

OF NOTE…

Everlane just added a ton of items to their “Choose What You Pay” section, which is their equivalent of marking things down on sale. I’ve picked up a few good things here in the past and am considering this striped crewneck and this cozy PJ shirt…if you’ve had your eye on something, now’s the time to snag it! I will personally say that this dress is wonderful–and under $50 right now!

A great post from Katie on how she battles flight anxiety–this is a struggle for many, and I feel like it only seems to increase the older you get. There are some helpful nuggets in here, whether or not this is something you currently face when hitting the skies!

I’d been eyeing these flats for a few weeks, and they’ve just been restocked in most sizes! I wasn’t sure how they’d look in-person (and hate that you can’t return Factory items for free without going to a store, so didn’t want to try them out) but one of the girls in this week’s book club had them on and they’re gorgeous! Snag them for under $40!

I’m always on the hunt for a good weekend happy hour and was happy to see this robust list of DC locales–Ghibellina and Bar Charley have two of my favorites!

A look into the history of the best Mexican restaurant there ever was (there may or may not be some bias here, as I too grew up on this Dallas staple).

I want to make this lemon blueberry bundt cake.

The story behind my favorite photograph from the royal wedding (As an aside, is anyone else also excited for Trooping the Colour tomorrow?).

Huge news from Ashlee…we’ve been talking about this for years, and she did it!!!
