Beauty Vol. I

August 1–can you believe it?! I won’t pretend that every summer doesn’t seem to fly by at this rate, but it’s crazy that fall is just a second away (yet the hottest is probably still yet to come…ugh). I spent the weekend getting drinks with Meg + friends on Friday, got a haircut on Saturday, and went to the rainy but incredible Billy Joel concert Saturday night. Other than brunch, yesterday was spent getting my ducks in a row for Charleston this week. It felt like one of my more productive Sundays in awhile, which was totally necessary going into a busy week!

I’m back with some current beauty favorites–most are skincare this time around. The good news is that they’ll all carry over to fall and winter (as in, they’re dry skin friendly!).

Tizo 3 Facial Mineral Sunscreen: My dermatologist recommended this facial sunscreen and I was immediately hooked. It goes on sort of like a BB or CC cream and is a great base for whatever makeup you’re putting on after. It also works well solo if you’re going sans makeup and just want a little color.

Favorite Beauty Products

Zoya Naked Manicure (c/o): Hands down the best clear polish ever. It’s a sort of step by step process but the results are definitely worth it. Zoya sent me this to try but I’ll definitely be buying it myself once it runs out! Not only does it give you a great manicure, but it also helps fix damaged nails and combats discoloration. So, so worth it!!

SkinMedica AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser: Another item recommended by my dermatologist–it’s a cleanser with a slight exfoliating component. It’s a little pricier, but it lasts for months. I’ve been pairing it with my Clarisonic (on sale!) over the past week but may need to scale back since the combination would be too drying if it wasn’t this humid out.

Simple Facial Wipes: I’ve been using these makeup wipes for the past couple of weeks and they’re really gentle on the skin. My one complaint is that it’s not fully taking off my mascara, but I think Maybelline may have changed the formula because this has never been an issue before. Jojoba oil to the rescue! (just get a little on a cotton ball and swipe it across the eye area).

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm: I was so excited to try this lip balm and had an unexpectedly difficult time tracking it down. While it wasn’t quite as perfect as I’d imagined, it’s pretty solid for the $8 price tag. It’s basically a lightly tinted balm with SPF. Perfect for those times when you want a little something with zero effort!
