Packing for Palm Beach was easy…we were only there for two nights (1.5ish full days) and one dinner outfit was a no-brainer–obviously a Lilly dress was coming with me!
In an unfortunate turn of FedEx events, the two items I ordered from the Lilly After Party Sale were delayed and didn’t arrive in time for our trip. I was looking forward to shooting a couple new looks, but instead pulled out an old favorite–one that regularly gets worn to work and brunch alike and always garners a number of compliments. Basically, it’s the perfect dress if you want something slightly fitted but longer in length, simple but with a little “something” (the neckline), and wait for it…machine washableee!
We shot these photos at our hotel before dinner + drinks on Saturday night. We got dinner at Buccan (highly recommend…it was phenomenal) followed by drinks at The Breakers–a very Palm Beach night in a very PB dress, since, fun fact, Lilly was actually founded there in the 1950s! Unfortunately this exact dress isn’t currently available, but I’ve linked to a few of my favorites in a similar style below. This one’s called the “Janice” dress, so keep an eye out–they sometimes pop back up!
A quick background on Lilly’s history, for those who are as interested as I was when I first heard this:
Lilly (the woman herself!) was living in Palm Beach and opened a juice stand off Worth Avenue (allegedly right near where we ate lunch on Friday!). She designed some bright shift dresses to hide the inevitable juice stains from running her business, and they took off almost immediately. Women around town were buying them, Jackie O was soon seen sporting a Lilly original, and the rest is history. It’s crazy to think that what was once just sort of “Palm Beach resort wear” is now a lifestyle all over the country (and world!). I can genuinely say that my Lillys are the most well-made dresses I own, and most styles fit TTS. I’m wearing a 4 here and generally wear a small in their more t-shirt like dresses.
