It’s been way too long since an Around the World post (where did the past 11 months go? I’m also blaming this on dropping posts from 5x/week to 3x/week) and I’m excited to bring them back! If you’ve been reading here awhile you may remember that I went to Thailand about a year and a half ago and spent a few days in Phuket. The resorts there are nothing short of spectacular–this is where we stayed–and they alone are going to have you adding the country to your bucket list!
Enter: Sri Panwa, and cue the heart eyes! The resort is located atop Cape Panwa on the southeastern tip of the island of Phuket, which is a well-known vacation destination south of Thailand’s mainland. It’s all villas–no “hotel rooms”– and has your typical amenities–great pools, a spa, dining experiences, and the opportunity to do offsite excursions (which I highly recommend!)–and as is the case throughout most of Asia, the service and attention to detail are known to be unparalleled. I first came across this property thanks to Lindsay (do yourself a favor and follow her Instagram) and when she’s asked for honeymoon recommendations, she typically points people to Thailand for a prime combination of affordability, luxury, activity, and beauty. She’s said that Sri Panwa is one of her favorite properties and while it’s one of the priciest resorts on the island, you’re sure to get a great value for your money if you can swing it.
One of the coolest parts of Phuket is hands down the water–it’s just as crisp and blue in real life as it is in pictures. That makes having an oceanfront room well worth the extra cost–waking up and winding down the day in front of a view like this an incredible experience! The beds in our room didn’t face the ocean but seeing this, I really wish they did–and it’s a little detail (the kind that sets some places above the rest) that I’ll definitely look for if I ever book this kind of luxury stay.
Striped umbrellas AND gingham chair covers? I mean….
This is totally the kind of place that would be amazing to travel to with a group of friends…you can literally rent your own five bedroom villa that’s over 20,000 square feet. Hotel rooms are great, but there’s something to be said about having your own villa to really take a vacation to the next level, ya know?
Have you ever been to Phuket? And what’s your take on renting a whole villa with a group of friends (I take it most of us would happily take one with just ourselves + a significant other or friend, but when else do you have the opportunity to fit 10 people in a place like this?!)
