2017 Gift Guide: For Men + Cyber Monday

Gift ideas for men

What a Monday! I’m sure most of you are trying to keep up with (or simply ignoring) all Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, which seem to start earlier and earlier every year. I mean, the DAY before Thanksgiving? I personally think it’s too much, but to each is own I guess. In better news, Meghan and Harry are engaged!! I’m unreasonably into royal family news and if you are, too, you know this is what we’ve all been waiting for. Can’t wait to watch their interview later today, but this was a fun announcement to wake up to!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving…we got back from Florida on Saturday afternoon and hit the ground running, buying our Christmas tree (my first real one!) from Whole Foods (a surprisingly efficient system with great trees available), grabbing brunch with friends, going through more stuff and creating another large donation pile, and taking a trip to Target (kind of a notable adventure when you’re car-less :)). These few weeks are my favorite time of the year so I’m going to do what I say I’ll do every year–slow down a bit and make sure there’s time to just relax at home but also make fun plans to celebrate the season. To be honest I’m so ready for all these insane sales to just calm down–I love putting together sale roundups but now that we’re looking at about a week of this “in your face” promotion on all sides, it probably gets a little taxing for everyone :)

Andddd I know I said I was going to post gift guides on “off” days (so not MWF), but wanted to get this men’s one up while so many items were heavily discounted. Hope it gives you ideas and helps cross off some gifts for the guys in your life! (Note: if you’re just here for the Cyber Monday sales, head to this post!)

I got J a Bric’s duffle a couple of years ago and he says its one of the best gifts I’ve gotten him…practical and something he wouldn’t have bought himself since he had older athletic ones from high school and early college. Both the price and quality are great! I also got him this Topo Designs backpack for his birthday last year after doing a lot of research, and he loves it for travel and commuting–it fits a surprising amount, is American-made, and never seems to go on sale…except now!

If you can’t tell, J helped contribute to this guide…he stands by Leatherman tools (to be honest I had no idea what this was but apparently it’s quite popular) and he loves this twist on the classic Ray-Ban wayfarer. I also always end up putting Barbour items, like these gloves and this scarf, on these gift guides…they’re usually a bit pricey but not out of reach and make great gifts because the quality and style are classic enough to a) last for years and b) work for a variety of personal styles.

In this post:

ONE: Under Armour performance quarter-zip ($45; currently marked down to $34) // TWO: Barbour leather gloves ($89) // THREE: Fossil leather belt ($32; currently marked down to $22) // FOUR: Bric’s duffle ($165; comes in tons of colors)  // FIVE: Barbour merino wool scarf ($79) // SIX: Meehan’s Bartender Manual ($20) // SEVEN: Jack Mason watch ($275) // EIGHT: Topo Designs backpack ($149 but currently marked down to $119; I never see this on sale, so assume this is as low as it goes!) // NINE: J.Crew flannel ($98; currently marked down to ($59) // TEN: Meat: Everything You Need to Know ($27) // ELEVEN: Ray-Ban ‘Justin’ sunnies ($143; currently marked down to $114) // TWELVE: Leatherman multitool ($90)

Unsurprisingly, coffee table books made this list too…we just ordered this cool bartending one (how beautiful is it?) and J loves having this book to break up my collection :) A flannel is a safe bet (super on sale at J.Crew through noon today, as they’re doing an additional 10% off their 40%) and I just discovered Jack Mason–how beautiful is this watch? Especially love that they are based in my hometown of Dallas! Lastly, a belt and a quarter-zip pullover…not the most exciting but if you’re shopping for a picky dad or brother who just wants the essentials and wants you to save your pennies, this could be a nice option. I also didn’t put this in my guide since I mention it everywhere but this pullover (20% off today) would probably be my universal no. 1 gift choice!
