I didn’t plan to take Monday off from posting (though I’ve admittedly been taking a handful of Wednesdays off here and there, because summer will do that to you) but was having the most wonderful weekend semi-unplugging and reading on the couch for hours. The latter is something I really haven’t done in awhile and reminds me of how I spent many weekends as a child–planted on the sofa with a glass of water within reach, immersed in a good book for the majority of the day. It’s a luxury that hardly seems to exist nowadays but after tearing through two books in the course of nearly three days (and this is with having a couple of social engagements + workouts scheduled) I’m ready to have more afternoons like that vs. just read before bed, which is what I do every day.
Did you have a nice weekend? Travel anywhere fun or shop any good sales? I get that Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer but we’re still in the 90s here and it’s been terrible. The last thing I want to think about are fall clothes so I’ll probably take a little outfit shoot break after this for a few weeks and pick back up at the end of the month or early October 🙂
In the meantime, if you’re in the market for a good basic that transitions well this time of year, try this shirt from Everlane. It’s 100% cotton (a must), has a generous fit while till looking polished, and is priced really well. I’m wearing a size 4 and wanted to shrink it slightly, so put it in the dryer on low. We shot these photos before a huge brunch and I love how easily the outfit came together–especially since it requires no accessorizing. You probably want to steam or iron it if you don’t take it out of the dryer immediately, but it’s a great lightweight button-down alternative with a similarly conservative neckline!
You probably know by now that I swear by Everlane for budget-friendly, high-quality basics like t-shirts, but they’ve been introducing so many good pieces lately! I just picked up this pullover in celadon and rounded up a few more things that caught my eye–see the widget at the bottom of this post. I also love browsing their Coming Soon page–cashmere is my favorite from November-March and I cannot wait to see what’s to come on September 24 + 27!
