I’m currently on my way to NYC for the weekend and for the first time in awhile, feel like I planned my week pre-trip well and didn’t overschedule myself at all! The downside is that that included cutting out most workouts, too, but I’m better rested and less stressed, which is always a great feeling when you’re trying to go into a fun weekend without anything hanging over your head. I’m planning on being productive for this train ride and then closing my computer till Sunday–let’s home Amtrak’s wifi surprises me this time around!
We’re nearing gift guide season, which I (and many of you!) personally love but know others can’t stand. My plan is going to be to do what I did last year–share normal posts MWF, and post gift guides on the other days. I was pretty consistent with that last year and while it’s extra work to get double the posts up, it’s nice knowing that my entire blog hasn’t turned into a holiday shop. If you have any feedback or suggestions for gift guides, send them my way!
I caved and bought another Dudley Stephens fleece, this time the Park Slope in black (I currently have the Cobble Hill in navy). The fleeces quickly made my “fall essentials list” and . They just released a boatneck style, too! They’re on the pricey side–but well worth it, IMO–so in light of that and the upcoming gifting season, I haven’t been window shopping or buying much. An exception: These statement earrings were marked down to $10 during Tuckernuck’s Halloween promotion, and I know they’ll get a lot of wear year-round.
P.S. If you like statement earrings but hate the weight (even the lightest ones often seem to feel bulky!), I swear by Lobe Wonders. They took a couple wears to get used to but now I swear by them! They’d be especially helpful if you’re wearing some heavier pieces for holiday parties, weddings, etc.
+ Love this piece on Kate Middleton’s return to royal duties after maternity leave. I’ve always been a huge fan of hers and agree that she as been particularly glowing as of late!
+ I’ve mentioned Trader Joe’s podcast in passing before, but they’ve released a couple new episodes this season and I loved the holiday one! We’re right about the time when the shelves start getting filled with what are among the best products of the year, and they share a peek of what’s to come. Let’s just say Millie is going to have an advent calendar this year 😬
+ Julia’s blog has been one of my daily reads for years, but this may be my favorite post of hers. Her husband was a Bosnian immigrant and came to the US at the age of seven. He’s built this incredible life and career–including a brand new, gorgeous fitness studio in the heart of Greenwich, CT–and persevered at times when the odds were against his success. Julia’s post is so well-written and his story is so inspiring…if you read one thing today, make it this one.
+ Ashlee shared this 20 Minute Thai Peanut Chicken Ramen recipe on Insta Stories a few weeks ago and while I check in with Tieghan’s blog pretty often, completely missed this the first time around and am so glad Ashlee posted about it because it’s one of the best things we’ve ever made at home! I will say that the “20 minute” part is misleading–be prepared to spend closer to 40, even if you’re using an Instant Pot, since there are some things you have to wash and chop! Regardless, it’s going to be a staple in our house, especially during the colder months.
+ Katie’s super helpful tips for mounting a TV on the walls of a small space–she learned the hard way, but it all worked out!
ON THE BLOG:
+ Recapping a fun weekend in Des Moines–people don’t give it enough credit!
+ Nine books I’ve read recently. Lots of good ones if you’re looking for something to pick up for holiday travel!
