Friday Things

After a busy weekend last weekend and a generally tiring week, plans are minimal this time around and I am not complaining! I’m having a pizza + wine night with girlfriends tonight, this desk is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I have a couple workouts scheduled…that’s it! A bunch of links below–I hope you have a great weekend!

+ A great interview with Will and Harry’s former press secretary, who dishes on what it was like to work for the brothers for 10 years and what their personalities are really like.

+ Along those lines: I’m such a fan of Elizabeth Holmes (not that one!) and devour everything she writes about the royals, including this piece on the new bebe.

+ I have such a soft spot for boxed baked goods and am 100% planning to get the Pillsbury Chocolate Fudge mix to see if it lives up to this test for the best boxed brownies. The Ghirardelli has been my preference as of late but it clocked at the no.3 spot!

+ As a foodie who loves checking out new restaurants in the city, I loved this story on how the essentially 1% of diners in DC receive VIP treatment at some of the city’s best establishments.

+ If you’re in the market for a great restaurant in DC, we dined at Del Mar last weekend and it was phenomenal! Fabio restaurants tend to be great but Del Mar definitely exceeded my expectations. If you’re up for a splurge, try a paella–they can’t be missed!

+ So excited for Kelly and Mitch! I’ve been reading her blog for years and they’ve had so many exciting life changes!

+ I’m partnering with Rent the Runway to spread the word about their Unlimited service, and you can take 50% off your first month with code MDUTIA50! I’m going to be talking more about the service in the coming days but if you’ve debated it, this is a great deal. The dress in the picture above is a Rebecca Taylor I rented this week and wore to dinner last night!

+ I’ve been doing a little shopping to try and fill some gaps in my lacking summer wardrobe. (I end up wearing shorts with striped cotton tees on repeat so am looking for some variety and non-long sleeve pieces!) I ordered this dress from the new Dudley Stephens drop, this dress from Gal Meets Glam, and these slides in black from Everlane (they look so comfy!). Will report back! I also bought these shorts a few weeks ago and highly recommend them if you’re in the market for a white pair that isn’t see-through!

+ It feels odd to shop for winter right now but if you’ve had your eye on the J.Crew Cocoon Coat, now is the time to get it! It’s as low as $100 with today’s 50% off sale and is a staple in my cold weather wardrobe.

+ There’s nothing like spring in NYC (other than maybe fall in NYC, haha)–Jackie’s photo essays always make me so happy.

+ How we got the Southwest Companion Pass for two years (it means J flies for free when we travel together on Southwest!)

+ The Sephora sale is over, but these are my favorite makeup and beauty products if you’re in the market.

+ An outfit I wear on repeat!

+ Six books I’ve read recently.

+ I’m a big snacker, and these are the things I regularly bring to the office for a mid-afternoon pick me up!

+ An interview with the author of the new Indian cookbook you’ll want to immediately add to cart.

  1. Have fun at your pizza and wine night! That sounds so nice.
I love all the Gal Meets Glam dresses, although I haven’t picked one to buy yet. And I saw the J Crew coats were on sale! I can’t think of buying something for winter right now, but it’s such a good price if you needed it.

I got my GMG dress in the mail yesterday and love it! And sooo true re: the coats…it’s tough. Knowing I’ve gotten some of the best deals on staples is the only thing that makes me keep coming back to extreme off-season shopping, haha

Aw thanks Monica! I can never decide between spring and fall in NYC either ☺️. Love that dress on you! My sister does RTR Unlimited too and she loves it!
