A few weeks ago, I attended a media lunch with Philadelphia-based jewelry company Lagos. They’ve been around since the 1970s and when they popped up in my inbox, I realized the name sounded familiar because I’d regularly caught sight of the brand when I was growing up in Dallas…which it turns out is one of their largest markets! I hadn’t thought of the brand in years and am glad they’re on my radar because now that I have an increased appreciation for brand identity, craftsmanship, and versatility when it comes to investment pieces, can see why Lagos has been a low key powerhouse in the fine jewelry market. What’s really impressive–and to me, sets the brand apart from many of its competitors–is that there are hundreds of new pieces created each year and there’s something for everyone. I always thought Lagos was geared towards a slightly older demographic but am pleasantly surprised to see that many pieces are truly ageless and while many are firmly in the “investment” piece camp, several come at more accessible price points, too.
I just had my iPhone at the event so excuse the photo quality, but I wanted to share some of what we previewed and pulled some of my favorites below! The most distinguishing characteristic of a Lagos piece is the iconic Caviar design that’s incorporated into all of the designs, be it more pronounced in some of the heftier pieces and less so in the daintier styles. I love that the Caviar adds a more formal element to the pieces and helps them translate from casual to dressy in an instant…I always prefer when my jewelry–particularly when it’s expensive–can play double duty!
Thank you so much to Lagos’ PR team for inviting me to preview the line! I was not required to write about the experience but wanted to share the brand with you guys because I fell in love! As always, all opinions are my own.
