The post-holiday hangover is real, guys! I had to go into the office for my 9-5 most of the day on Friday, but it still felt like we essentially had four days off (if not more, since everyone was essentially in vacation mode by Wednesday). I don’t think I opened my computer for three days straight–and can’t tell you the last time that happened…it has to be years?–and while I didn’t get ahead on blog and freelance-related work like I’d hoped, sorted out so many other things around the house and on my ongoing to-do list that it felt productive and satisfying in the way only a holiday spent at home could feel. We finally moved things around to get the TV credenza to a good spot (more on Instagram!), finally put on the bed skirt that took a month to come in, and did a little DIY to raise the height of our faux olive tree. I hope you had a great one, too!
Onto today’s outfit! Unless you’re new here, you likely know by now that I’m a huge Everlane fan and have loved watching the brand evolve since first shopping with them in 2013. They’ve been so thoughtful about what products they create and don’t design items just for the sake of expansion…it really does feel like they’re scaling up in a very intentional way and listening to what customers identify as gaps in the market. They recently released their first sneaker, which comes in several colorways at an affordable price point. I was really excited to see these launch, and wanted to share how I typically wear them!
A quick note…getting to collaborate with Everlane for my blog is one of the coolest things that’s come from running this site, and the opportunity to work with one of my favorite brands is not lost on me. They offered to send over a pink pair of their new Tread sneakers and I jumped at the chance to give my [minimal] sneaker wardrobe a much-needed boost! The shoes are a little more trendy than I’d normally reach for, but I was drawn to the subtle blush color and structure to contrast a couple of the flatter pairs of sneakers I own (like Tretorns and Converse). They’re a great way to make a low key statement when you’re wearing something really neutral–which I tend to do often!–and are a “nicer” option that’s far more supportive than a sandal or novelty shoe.
Everlane makes my favorite tees so I paired it with this simple v-neck and white jeans. It’s the type of outfit I’d wear to work (since I’m in a casual setting), running errands, or on a travel day. I’ve seen them styled with casual dresses, too, which pretty much confirms they’d easily earn a spot in a week-long-trip-to-Europe-carry-on situation!
Tread sizing is a little tricky because there are no half sizes…many people say to go up but I tried both an 8 and a 9 and went with the 8. For reference, I’m usually an 8 or 8.5. I wear thinner no-show socks with sneakers like this but if I was going to go with something thicker, would have sized up to a 9. My feet were slipping out of them and they felt bulky on my feet, so I kept the 8. Luckily shipping and returns are really easy so I’d try a couple options if you’re in between sizes!
