My first “Wedding Wednesday” post is here! I’ve been thinking of how to structure this content and for now, am going to do one post per month–on, unsurprisingly, a Wednesday. Since new blog posts go up three times a week and we’re still about a year and a half out from the big day (more on that below), I’m not even sure I’ll have more frequent regular updates to share until part way through next year!
Unsurprisingly, one of the most frequently asked questions is whether or not we’ve set a date–and we have! We’re doing a three day weekend in June 2021 because it’ll be a combined Hindu + non-denominational western wedding, with the former kicking things off on Friday afternoon.
Based on when we got engaged, we pretty much knew that a summer 2021 date was likely where we’d land. I’d kind of envisioned our wedding being in the fall (probably because I hate being hot and fall is my favorite season) but J is going to be really busy with work the latter half of next year and I didn’t want to plan a wedding in less than a year. Winter was out of the question logistically since we knew we’d do the Northeast and didn’t want to take chances with the weather, and I’m not a very “spring” person so that got nixed pretty quickly (plus again, weather). That left the summer and my strong aversion to 90+ degree temperatures meant we focused on June!
We’re still signing contracts for the venue so I’ll hold off talking about that for now, but it looks like all systems are a go there! Our immediate priorities on the planning checklist were to secure a date and a venue, hire a wedding planner, and sign with my dream photographer. The date and planner are official and the venue + photographer are nearly there, so we’re exactly where we wanted to be going into the holidays and plan to pump the breaks until the new year once these contracts get squared away!
I did an Instagram Story asking for wedding-related content requests and plan to address everything–it included the menu, location, dress, decor, strategies to make the day unique to us as a couple, how to stay sane in the planning process (hopefully I can end up speaking on this, haha), my ring, and the venue. If there’s anything else you’d like to see, please let me know in the comments or at email@example.com!
