Friday Things

Phew–what a week! It’s undoubtably been a weird one no matter where you live…I went to and from Connecticut on Monday/Tuesday and I’ve never seen a more empty Amtrak car on my way up. My way back included the most disinfectant I’d ever smelled in a concentrated space…it was a little unnerving, but comforting to see people taking everything seriously. Things obviously hit the fan the latter half of this week and my bff and I unfortunately decided to cancel our trip to Savannah this weekend. We both feel fine physically (fingers crossed that continues) but wanted to do our part in helping keep things contained…plus the potential for canceled flights and chaos surrounding trying to get home, due to how quickly things are changing, did not feel worth it. We’re obviously bummed but planning to reschedule for the fall!

That being said, J and I are trying to continue relatively normally while also being cognizant of our actions…a tricky balance! I’m still planning on grabbing dinner with friends tonight and am going to try and get out a little more now in case things escalate in the next couple of days. But when in doubt, we’ll stay home–the prospect of some advanced spring cleaning, reading, needlepointing, and TV doesn’t sound terrible. Hope everyone stays healthy and safe!

OF NOTE…

+ A nod to Everlane’s current shoe selection…these slides look way more expensive than they are (and come in so many good colors!), and I recently got these sneakers–so cute if you want something simple and un-branded to wear with jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts, etc. as temperatures rise. If you’re between sizes, size up.

+ I really, really love muffins and breakfast-themed baked goods, and will be bookmarking tons of recipes from this post.

+ Alison Roman on how she became a food writer. (I made her lemon cake last weekend and it was amazing!!)

+ Despite not having kids of my own, I loved Kelly’s post on how she and Mitch made this decision for their family.

+ Serena & Lily is having their Spring Event with 20% off everything–among our best-ever home purchases are this side cart and our barstools (the latter are insanely comfortable and basically make our bar a workable desk setup)!

+ A good read on how to take care of (and keep clean) your jewelry with all the extra hand-washing.

+ Sarah Flint just released printed scarves and they’re stunning! There are two sizes and two patterns–I’m partial to the larger one given how I like to wear my scarves (as seen in this post). My $50 off your first purchase code works on them, too…just use this link to shop and it’ll pop up at checkout. You can read more about my experience with their Perfect Pumps here!

+ Dinner parties will probably be at a minimum right now, but here’s how to throw one for $60.

+ An inside, emotional look at Meghan Markle’s transition out of royal life.

ON THE BLOG:

+ Three days in New Orleans (with a ton of restaurant + bar recs!).

+ A collection I fell for immediately.
