A quick note that it feels completely frivolous and untimely to be discussing my future wedding shoes when nearly everyone around the world with upcoming wedding plans likely had to rearrange their entire celebration. We’re still moving forward with planning for our June 2021 date and I’m going to continue Wedding Wednesday posts when I have something new to share–hopefully it’s a fun, frivolous escape! Also, there’s a $100 off Sarah Flint code at the end of this post :)
Up until early this year, if you’d asked me anything about my future wedding shoes, my response would have been that shoes were at the bottom of the list both priority and budget-wise. I always joked that I’d wear a worn-in pair of white Jack Rogers if the season allowed, and confirmed that would be the case when we picked a June wedding date.
Sarah Flint x Stephen Walters
Andddd then a late February visit to the Sarah Flint showroom in NYC made me instantly change my mind. They had upcoming styles on display and I caught sight of what can only be described as my dream statement shoe. I mean, handmade blue and white jacquard on a classic silhouette, with a modest 2.5″ block heel! I know what I like but am not impulsive, particularly when it comes to making bigger decisions (financially and otherwise). But this was love at first sight and I knew that no matter what kind of dress I’d end up with, these were the shoes I’d be wearing.
The Azulejos Blue Jacquard style is part of a limited-edition collaboration between Stephen Walters, a family-owned, English company that has been weaving jacquard for over 300 years. Sarah was inspired by Portugal’s azulejo tiles and translated them into this intricate pattern! Here’s a behind the scenes video of the fabric.
Obviously being comfortable on my wedding day is a priority, and based on these (plus the two other similar styles I own), can confirm that the “Perfect” last (the anatomical portion of the footbed) is exactly what it’s cracked up to be! Having the padding and built-in arch support–even though I have entirely flat feet–sets these apart. I’m happy knowing I’ll have the height and formality of heels at my wedding, but won’t have to think twice about my feet hurting. It also comes in a 1″ heel style, if that’s your preference–they’d be perfect as an everyday sandal!
Since this collaboration with Stephens Walters is a limited edition collection, I’d planned to order these sandals as soon as they dropped. Before I could do so, Sarah and the team very generously offered to gift them to me; it was such a pinch me moment and I’m so excited to wear a brand I love this much for my big day. If you’re looking to snag a pair of Sarah Flint shoes yourself, my code that’s typically $50 off your first purchase is currently up to $100 off for a few more weeks!
